MEALS
Please understand that if you attend all the sessions at Catholic University
there will not be enough time to go back to the conference hotel (the Hilton
Rockville) for lunch or dinner or for any other reason during the day. When you
leave the hotel in the morning, you will not see it again until you return at
night. So dress for the entire day and
the banquets and play productions at night.
Buses will be chartered to return you to the Hilton Rockville after the
plays.
BREAKFAST
Given that it takes at least an hour to go by Metro from your hotel door
to Pryzbyla Center on the CUA campus, it’s recommended that you either have
breakfast early enough at the Hilton Rockville (in your room or in their
restaurant at your own expense) or get to the Pryzbyla Center early enough to
have breakfast there, either the continental breakfast provided for the
conference free of charge or a fuller breakfast that you purchase at the Food
Court on the second floor or the Student’s Restaurant and Starbucks on the
third floor, all of which open at 8:00 am.
LUNCH
Although the Food Court (yellow area in the Pryzbyla Map) on
the second floor of the Pryzbyla Center will be available to conference
registrants on Friday, as well as, on the third floor, the Student Restaurant
(yellow area) and a Starbucks, only the
Starbucks and the Student Restaurant will be open on Saturday.
DINNER
It’s possible that the opening reception on Thursday night, from 6:00 to
8:00 pm, at the Irish Embassy on Massachusetts Ave NW (a walk of a couple of
blocks northwest of the Dupont Circle Metro Station)
will provide enough hors d’oeuvres
(snack food) that you won’t need to go out for additional food after, but we can’t guarantee that. There are lots of restaurants around Dupont Circle if you need further replenishment, and if you
return to the hotel early enough, you can get food service at the bar. On Friday you will be bused from the
Pryzbyla Center to Clyde’s of Gallery Place for a buffet banquet, prior to the
Shaw play at the Washington Stage Guild Theater, and on Saturday you will have
a buffet banquet in the Pryzbyla Center prior to the Shaw play at the Hartke
Theater just a short walk northwest on the CUA campus. The opening reception and the two buffet
banquets are included in the registration fee, but you are on your own for any
additional food and drink you may need.
